Crowland War Memorial [#33]  - Click for previous

This picture was taken at Chippawa Park in Welland, Ontario at dusk. This statue was the last monument that was erected in Canada that commemorates the soldiers of World War I. The sixteen foot high memorial was unveiled on September 4th 1939, one day after England declared war on Germany (the start of World War II). This sculpture cost thirty-six thousand dollars and was paid for by donations from the people of Welland.
