Hopkins' Tomb [#31]  - Click for previous

This is a picture of Samual Hopkins' double-columned tomb in Port Colborne, Ontario. This monument was erected in Oakwood Cemetery when he died on October 12th, 1899. Displayed in this picture is the top of the gate - part of the small four foot wall that surrounds the area. There are several myths associated with Hopkins' Tomb. One myth, in a November 1981 novel mentioned that if you breach the perimeter of the wall, you would have to walk around the tomb seven times, knocking on the door each time you pass to avoid the curse.
