This is a photograph of one of the wall statues that surround the Mather Arch in Fort Erie, Ontario. This arch is one of the only monuments in Canada that commemorates an American citizen. Alonzo C. Mather was a business man from Chicago who sold and leased railway cars. Alonzo had several ideas of a shared border of peace and cooperation between the two nations. Even though his original plans were not used, the Peace Bridge was built because of Alonzo’s initial idea.
